Elements of the agreement

Publish and Read agreement with the American Chemical Society (ACS).

  • Authorisation of authors from participating institutions to publish Open Access in subscription-based and Gold Open Access journals.
  • Reading access to the entire ACS portfolio.
Which requirements must be fulfilled?

You are a researcher from a participating institution and you submit your paper as responsible Submitting Corresponding Author.

What do you need to consider?

The institutional affiliation of the corresponding author must be clear in order to ensure authorization for open access publication. To this end, the institution's email address should be provided and it should be ensured that the author profile in the Editorial Manager contains the correct institutional data.

Open Access license

The Creative Commons license CC BY is set by default for the contract.

We also recommend the liberal license type CC BY, which grants the most ideal reuse possibilities in science without restricting your copyright in the work.

This is the procedure
  1. Please use the institutional e-mail address for communication with the publisher and when submitting the manuscript.
  2. When submitting the manuscript, please select your institution as affiliation: German Research Centre for Geosciences Potsdam GFZ.
  3. When the manuscript is accepted, please choose the Open Access option and confirm the publishing agreement: “Yes, I wish to publish open access as per the agreement”
  4. The article details will then be sent to the library for review and approval.
Invoicing and cost coverage

Due to the consortial agreement, the APCs for publications in nine journals and book series are fully covered. There is no individual invoicing per article to the authors (exception: additional costs for excess length, color illustrations, etc.).
