Elements of the agreement

Employees of the GFZ, PIK, and RIFS receive a 15 percent discount on the article processing charges (APCs) that authors are required to pay when publishing in the journal Science Advances.

Which requirements must be fulfilled?

As a researcher from a participating institution, if you submit your paper as the responsible corresponding author, the GFZ Helmholtz-Zentrum für Geoforschung or the GFZ Helmholtz Centre for Geosciences must be listed as your affiliation.

What you need to consider?
  • Please clearly indicate your institutional affiliation with GFZ, PIK, or RIFS at the time of submission.
  • Once your article has been accepted, you will receive a payment request via email, including a link to the RightsLink payment system.
  • There, select “Apply Discount” and look under “Affiliation Discount” for the entry for “Wissenschaftspark Albert Einstein.”
  • Confirm by clicking “Apply Discount.”
  • Now check the discounted invoice amount in the main window.
Invoicing and cost coverage

To process and pay for standard publication costs, apurchase order must be initiated via the SAP-Self-Services-Portal

Select:

  • "Freitextartikel"
  • "Neuer Artikel"
  • "Publikationskosten"

The library’s Open Access Team will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

In consultation with the sections, the APCs are transferred to the respective Account Assignment Elements of the section budgets or third-party funded projects. 

Publications in genuine Open Access journals that can only be financed from section budget funds can be supported from the OA budget. The remaining amount must be financed from section funds.
