To use our library services, such as borrowing books or document delivery, you need a valid library account. With this account you always have an overview of your borrowings, can renew them or reserve other items from our collections.
You can register via our registration form, which you can easily fill out and send to firstname.lastname@example.org or hand in at the library's help desk in building A17. You will receive a library card with your personal account number.
The use of our collection on site and our premises during service hours is possible without registration.
Access to your library account
After logging in, you can customize your user credentials in your personal library account. Your login ID is your library card number. You can find this below the barcode on your library card. By default, this is the first four digits of your date of birth (ddmm). You can change this at any time through your library account.

The library account is also required for logging in to the ProQuest Ebook Central platform and opens the doors to our premises outside of our library's service hours. After registration, employees of GFZ, PIK, AWI and IASS can use the following services:
- Borrowing and reserving items from our collections
- Document delivery service for book from other libraries
- Access to the platform ProQuest Ebook Central
- 24/7-Access to the library
Questions on registration
In order to welcome you as a user in our library, we need your contact details. Please print and fill out the application form.
The signed form you can take to us in person, send a scan to email@example.com or send it to the library via internal mail. At that you will receive a library card with your user number.
External users also require a valid identity card or passport in connection with the police registration confirmation.
The validity of your library card depends on the duration of your contract with AWI, GFZ, IASS or PIK. For external users a validity of up to 2 years can be arranged.
We delete the library account directly at your notice of withdrawl or 2 years after the expiration date at the latest. Your signed application form will be destroyed simultaneously.

You can use your library card at all branches.
External users have limited access to the stocks of the branch libraries. Please turn to our staff or write an email to email@example.com in case of questions.
If your card is lost, please inform the library immediately, so that your account can be blocked and you can receive a new user id.
Please let us know of any changes of your contact information (address, contract period etc.) immediately. You can call us (-1673) or write an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
