In the spirit of data minimisation, DEAL recommends disabling all non-essential cookies unless the corresponding features are desired.
DEAL Open Access Services gGmbH (DEAS) has published official instructions to help researchers disable optional tracking cookies on Elsevier’s ScienceDirect platform. These cookies are enabled by default, but are not strictly necessary. They can be disabled via a specific menu, thereby enhancing the protection of users’ personal data when accessing scientific literature. The detailed, step-by-step guide is now available to download as a PDF via the Max Planck Digital Library (MPDL).
