DEAL Springer Nature

The DEAL project with Springer Nature has also resulted in a new contract between the DEAL consortium and Springer Nature. The new DEAL Springer Nature agreement (2024-2028) enables authors of the participating institutions to publish in approximately 2,500 Springer Nature journals, as well as reading access to almost the entire portfolio.

For publishing in Gold Open Access journals, corresponding authors receive a 20% discount on the list prices of publication charges (APCs) in Springer Nature journals.

When publishing in subscription-based journals, a publish-and-read fee (PAR fee) of 2.600,00 EUR is charged, which is currently borne centrally by the GFZ. The subscription-based journals of the Nature Publishing Group are not covered by the DEAL agreement, but are covered by a separate Helmholtz consortium: https://bib.telegrafenberg.de/en/publishing/information-for-authors/publication-fees/nature-oa

The GFZ takes part in the DEAL project with Springer Nature retroactively from 01.01.2024. For GFZ employees, this means that the journal portfolio can be accessed within the GFZ network. Please note: if you are working from home, please choose access via VPN.

In addition, the library will offer two dates for GFZ employees in the near future to inform authors about the publication process and answer open questions. The dates will be announced soon.
