Funding for Open Access publications from 2025

Dear colleagues,
we are pleased to inform you that the library has once again successfully raised funds to support Open Access publications in the period 2025-2027 as part of the second funding phase of the DFG funding program “Open Access Publication Costs”.

The DFG-funded OA budget enables the library to support GFZ scientists in covering publication costs in original Open Access journals (Gold OA) with up to €1,000 per article. If publication costs exceed this amount, the difference must continue to be financed from section funds.

Open Access publication fees, which can be financed from third-party funds, are still excluded from funding by the OA budget.
