American Institute of Physics (AIP)

Both GFZ and PIK participate in a Publish and Read agreement with the American Institute of Physics (AIP). The agreement enables authors to publish open access in subscription-based AIP journals. There is no individual invoicing.

Elements of the agreement

  • Eligibility for authors to publish Open Access in 28 subscription-based journals (s. box on the right).

  • Eligible research article type is Article.

  • Reading access to the entire AIP portfolio.

Please note!

The genuine Open Access journals (Gold OA) are not part of the agreement. Here you or your section will still be required to pay the publisher's Article Processing Charges (APCs).

What do you have to do as a "corresponding author"?

  1. When submitting the manuscript via the „Manuscript Submission and Peer Review System", please select your affiliation in the section “Validate Institution” from the drop-down menu

  2. Please choose "I wish to publish Open Access as part of an institutional agreement" in the section "Publication Charges and Funding".

  3. Choose a Creative Commons license during the confirmation process.
We recommend the liberal license type CC BY,which grants the most ideal reuse possibilities in science without restricting your copyright in the work. More information about Creative Commons license types here: https://creativecommons.org/about/cclicenses/

  4. The information about the article will be forwarded to the library for review and approval.

Invoicing and cost coverage

The publication costs (Publish & Read-Fee (PAR-Fee)) are covered by the library through the settlement of tokens. There should be no individual invoices to authors by AIP.

If, nevertheless, you should receive an individual invoice for Article Processing Charges, please contact your library immediately to clarify the matter.

If the available contingent of Open Access articles is already depleted, you will be notified.

If you have any questions, please contact the library's Open Access team: openaccess@gfz-potsdam.de
