FAQ Library Services

How can I log into my library account?

Go to our library catalogue:

Enter your user id and your password on the right side. You can find the user id on your library card. The standard password consists of the first four numbers of your date of birth (ddmm). You are now in the library account "summary". Here you can manage your borrowed books, your reservations, extend loan periods, change your password, etc.

How can I get a book which is not in the library's stock?

The library welcomes suggestions to purchase books and other materials for our library collections. Employees from:

After reviewing your request the library will order the book immediately (we get special discounts), catalogue it and display it for a week on the recent acquisitions shelf. Of course we will inform you when the book can be picked up.

How can I purchase a journal that is missing in the library?

As the subscription of a journal puts the library to expenses for years, this subject must be discussed in the library committees.

It would be very helpful if you could name colleagues who are also interested in the same journal. Please send us your request and we will contact you and keep you updated.

What is SFX?

With the SFX-Service (SFX=acronym for "special effects") the library offers you a fast and comfortable way to search literature and retrieve full texts. During a search in a bibliographic database like the Web of Science or Scopus, you can check directly via SFX-button if the full text is available in our resources. Of course under the condition that we have a license for the journal including electronic full texts.
