Elements of the new contract

  • permanent access to the licensed volumes and back to 1997 inclusive
  • Reading access for the entire e-journal portfolio of the Wiley publishing house including the previous volumes up to 1997
  • Eligibility for authors of participating insitutions for hybrid open access publishing ("Wiley Online Open")
  • 20% discount on Article Processing Charges (APCs) for Gold Open Access Journals

What do you have to do as an author?

Instructions for the procedure of an OnlineOpen Publication at Wiley in the context of DEAL:

  1. Please select the German Research Center for Geosciences GFZ (respectively Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies or Alfred Wegener Institute) as your institution when submitting your manuscript or confirming it via Wiley's publication platform "Author Services".

  2. If the manuscript is accepted for publication in a Wiley OnlineOpen Journal (hybrid journal), please confirm the OnlineOpen option via the Author Services dashboard and add your GFZ affiliation if applicable (if not already specified at the time of submission).

  3. Assign the Creative Commons license during the confirmation process. We recommend CC-BY, as it is the freest type of license and allows for the greatest possible reuse without restricting your copyright of the work.

  4. Please select the following option concerning publication fees: "My institution or funder has an agreement with Wiley and may pay the article publication charge."

  5. The article details are then sent to the library of the Albert Einstein Postdam Science Park or the library of the Alfred Wegener Institute in Bremerhaven for review and approval.

  6. The approval by the institution is automatically transferred and displayed in your Author Service Dashboard.
